Our Second Graders were the first to head out in our new Blaney Elementary School Field Trip Shirts and boy oh boy they where a hit!

All the Teachers Raved about how much they enjoyed them and how easy it was to spot their students while out and about.  This has been something they have been asking for, for years and thanks to our community sponsors we were able to make this happen for all our students and staff!

October- December // Volunteer Opportunities

We have big goals for this year and we need your help to be successful. Here are a few!

* Field Trip Shirt

* Imagine Math, Our school is piloting this program for the district and we hope to help cover the cost if it does well.

* Providing literacy coach with books.

* Providing Teachers with another amazing Teacher Appreciation Week.

* Field Day & Service Quest.

We currently do not have enough in our budget to do all of these wonderful things. This is where you can help!  We encourage you and your students to participate.

Fall Fundraiser

We will be kicking off our Fall Fundraiser with the Fundshoppe. Look for information coming home this week!

Product delivery date is estimated on November 13th. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY DAY FOR PICK UP. We will need volunteers to help distribute items from 12pm-630 pm.







We would love to help Mrs. Kelly with our Veterans Day assembly. We are looking for people to come in and serve, chat and hang with our Blaney Family Veterans.

Catfish Stomp & Lights of Lugoff

We will be having a float in the Catfish Stomp Dec 2nd and Again for the Lights of Lugoff on Dec 9th.

Fall Book Fair


Fall Book Fair is here and its time to get ready for our Reading Adventure!

Sept. 11-15th & 18th (Eveing of Sept 14th)
Parents and Volunteers we need your help in making our spring book fair a success! Volunteers are needed to help children find the perfect book, check students out and make sure the shelves are tidy. We would also love help with set up and take down Friday Sept 8th – 18th.

Book Fair and Grandparents Week are held at the same time. So please don’t forget to stop by when having lunch with your loved ones!

Sponsorship: Field Trip T-Shirts

Can you help us?! 

Help us raise funds for our  Field Trip T-shirts. Our goal is to raise $5,000. This will allow each student and staff member the opportunity to wear a custom screen- printed Blaney shirt on multiple field trips & spirit days throughout the year. To help cover the cost, we are looking for businesses and families who would like to have their name or logo placed on the back of each t-shirt. This is a great advertising opportunity and will be printed on approximately 1000 T-shirts.

Weclome Back 2017-18 School Year

Welcome Back!

This time of year always comes with a flurry of activities, anxiety, excitement, and maybe even a few tears.  As a mom of three, I am experiencing all of those things, especially realizing my oldest is now a 5th grader and wondering where it all went.  I’m sure like me, you’ve been making preparations and saying goodbye to summer fun.  

We hope as you open this new chapter you are looking forward to a great year, just as we at PTA are.  We are ready to rock and are excited about a great year with lots of opportunities for you to participate in your child’s elementary experience.  

We hope you will join us this year in PTA by becoming a member and volunteering! You can join through our website and click on memberships!  You can also find us on Facebook at Blaney Elementary PTA.  Also, we’ve begun an exciting initiative for you to highlight your Blaney kid and how they’re rocking this year at #blaneyrocks.  Take pics of your awesome kids and post online so we can share our awesome Blaney stories within our community!

We hope that you will be able to help us kick off the year by volunteering for some of our upcoming events!

A Big Thank You! 2016-2017

First of all the PTA would like to thank the parents, teachers, and administration at Blaney for their overwhelming support during the 2016-2017 school year. Without your support the PTA would not be able to provide these items to Blaney Elementary School.

With your support:

  • We kicked off the school year with an remarkable back to school breakfast!
  • Encouraged the importance of reading with our Read-A- Thon.
  • Hosted a Fall Vendor Fair
  • Celebrated 100 years at Blaney Elementary by providing free hot cocoa at the Catfish Stop Parade.
  • Had an amazingly successful Santa Shop that exceeded previous years.
  • Teacher & Staff Holiday Dessert Bar
  • Kindergarten Artwork fundraiser
  • 2 Successful book fairs
  • Restaurant nights to include Pelican’s Snoball in Elgin, Domino’s Pizza & Chick Fil A
  • Spring Beautification Day
  • Lets brag a little about how sensational our students are, we had a killer Candy Bar Sales! Top 5 earner in the state for Cherrydale and earned a inflatables party.
  • Helped host “One of the best ever” Teacher Appreciation weeks at Blaney.
  • Provided volunteers for various events including Field Day, Service Quest & Testing.

Thanks to the money raised from these fundraisers, the PTA was able to completely or partially fund the following things for Blaney Elementary School:

  • Accelerated Reader Tests
  • Field Day
  • Service Quest
  • Weekly Readers
  • Science Magazines
  • Fun Run
  • BETA Club Induction Ceremony
  • Starfall Reading Curriculum
  • Weekly Social Studies Newspapers
  • Provided 5th Grade students moving to middle school with summer reading books.
  • Provided $200 in funds to each teacher to expand classroom libraries.
  • In partnership with KCSD we were able to help fund the new awning.

And A special thanks to a Generous Donor who provided funds for defibrillator for our school.

2017-2018 Executive Board Results and Call For Committee Chairs

The PTA had a general membership meeting last night, during which we held our election for the 2017-2018 executive board and voted on a revised budget for the rest of the fiscal year.

The Blaney Elementary PTA executive board members for the 2017-2018 school year are:

President: Joyell Brown
Vice President: Erin Peake
Secretary:  Jennifer Reed
Treasurer: Sherra Scott

One of the first official acts of the new board at their meeting in July will be to appoint committee chairs for our standing committees. If you are interested in being a committee chair for one of our standing committees, please let us know ASAP. You can send an email to to let us know you are interested.

If you are interested in being a committee chair, you must be a PTA member no less than 30 days prior to your appointment. So, that means you will need to join before the end of the school year since the board will be meeting in the beginning of July to begin planning for registration.

If you would like to join using a credit card to pay dues, you can do so at You can also catch one of the board members at the school if you would like to give us a check or cash (someone is normally in the PTA room around dismissal time). Membership forms will be available in the front office.

Standing Committee Chairs are not expected to do all the work for the committee, but is in charge of the committee and reporting back to the board. Standing Committee Chairs are voting members of the Blaney PTA Board of Directors.

  • Volunteer Committee – This position takes a good amount of time and is an active committee all year.
  • Fundraising Committee – This position takes a good amount of time and is an active committee all year.
  • Nominating Committee – This position is mostly active after winter break, but is expected to attend board meetings all year.
  • Financial Review Committee – This position is mostly active in July/August after the new board has taken over, but may be needed at other times throughout the year if there is a change in authorized signators for checks and is expected to attend board meetings all year.
  • Grant Request Review Committee – This position is mostly active in August, September, and May but is expected to attend board meetings all year.

Other committees may be formed throughout the year to handle special tasks as needed, but chairs of those committees are not voting members of the board.

Our next board meeting will be Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 3:30 PM in the Multipurpose room. As always, our monthly board meetings are open to all. Meetings generally last 45 minutes to an hour, but may vary depending on the amount of information we need to cover.

Calendar Advertisements

The Blaney Elementary PTA is pleased to announce its first annual School Calendar of Events Magnet. Each year every student, teacher, and staff member will receive the school year’s calendar of events in the form of an 8.5″x 11″refrigerator magnet. This magnet will include all the important dates, contacts, and even a spot to add your child’s teacher and bus information.

Blaney Elementary PTA School MagnetIn an effort to support our community and sponsor this effort, we will be offering 20 advertising spaces along the outer edges of the magnet. Our magnets will reach hundreds of local households in one of the most coveted advertising locations – THE FRIDGE!

  • Actual size of magnet is 8.5″ x 11″ (same size as letter size paper)
  • Top and bottom banner spaces are approximately 8.5″ x 1″
  • Side spaces are are approximately 2″ x 1″

2015-16 Board Nominations Now Open

NominateThe PTA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for Executive Officer positions for next year’s PTA Executive Committee. We welcome all nominations and will strive to create a diverse and balanced roster of applicants that accurately represents our school’s demographic. Please be aware to accept a nomination for the PTA Executive Committee you must be a PTA member in good standing for at least 30 days before the election. By Laws and Standing Rules for the PTA can be found on our forms page. Our goal is to see that every parent has a voice on our PTA and is given the chance to become actively involved in enriching the educational opportunities at our school.
